    Inaugural Annual Meeting

    Sonoma County Hospitality Association (SCHA), formerly Sonoma County Lodging Association, presents their Inaugural Annual Meeting on Thursday, February 7th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Doubletree by Hilton, Sonoma Wine Country.


    The annual meeting luncheon will bring together professionals working in all sectors of tourism and hospitality. In addition to lodging members, our association has expanded to include restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms, attractions, transportation, and retail businesses within the hospitality industry.


    Our meeting will include an introduction to our new organization and our 2019 plans, an address by Supervisor David Rabbitt, and an inspiring keynote presentation, “How to be an Authentic Storyteller” by Matt Villano.


    Matt is a Healdsburg-based freelance travel writer, who writes about people and places to visit in Sonoma County and other US destinations for local, national and international publications and websites.


    Kick off the new year with a fresh perspective on your business, expand your network, and learn what SCHA will do to support your success in 2019.

    Bio: Matt Villano

    • Matt Villano proudly never has had a full-time job. In 23 years as a freelance writer and editor, he’s covered everything from family travel and education to gambling and health care. He’s written questions for trivia games. He’s led brand essence workshops for small businesses. A few years back, someone even hired Villano to write the toast the client gave at his daughter’s wedding. 
    • Villano’s current roster of journalism clients includes CNN, AFAR, San Francisco, AAA Via, Entrepreneur, the Press-Democrat, and The Healdsburg Tribune, for which he writes a twice-monthly column about good people in North County doing great things. On the corporate side, Villano writes marketing materials, copy, and ad campaigns for a host of different organizations of every size. When Villano isn’t working nights at his stand-up desk, he (drinks lots of coffee and) directs his energy toward philanthropy here in Sonoma County and in the world at large.     The Sonoma County Lodging Association invites you to join us for the Annual Wine Country Chefs of Tomorrow fundraiser on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Rohnert Park. This entertaining night of great food, local wines, silent and live auction raises funds for local youth culinary arts programs. Programs like these are vital to our future, providing practical training and important job skills for our youth.


    This is our seventeenth year partnering with Sonoma County high school culinary arts programs including Casa Grande, El Molino, Healdsburg, Maria Carrillo, Piner, Sonoma Valley and Windsor high schools. Each of the schools will be partnered with a lodging chef for a friendly appetizer competition dueling it out for the “People’s Choice Award” and the “Best Appetizer”.


    Help us make this evening a brilliant success as we dine on superb appetizers and raise money to help educate our future culinary and hospitality success stories.
