Name and Sex Designation Change in New York State

In New York, you have the right to identity documents that match your gender identity. Join us for an overview of the Suffolk County Supreme Court Law Library and Help Center, with an emphasis on the process for name change and/or sex/gender designation change petitions. The Gender Recognition Act, signed into law in 2021, has made it easier and safer to change the name and gender marker on New York State issued documents. We will cover resources available at the Law Library and Help Center, as well as virtual resources that are accessible at the public library.
